I like to create meaningful things
you can listen to.

Michiel van Poelgeest (1982) is a Dutch music composer, podcast producer and audio-editor. His output ranges from acoustic piano music to dystopic hybrid synth soundscapes.

Before becoming a professional composer, Michiel spent his nights on stage or in the practice room, playing piano and doing backing vocals in several bands, among which Junior Eats Alone. In 2010 he released an album with his band Villeneuf. It was well-received. A second album would later follow. Villeneuf toured the Netherlands, played numerous venues, and performed on live television during prime time.

“For each project my goal is the same: to make the the intangible audible; to add value to the production; and to create something original and meaningful.”

Van Poelgeest’s musical education started when he was seven years old and his parents signed him up for piano lessons. His classical education went on for ten years, after which his interests shifted towards electronic music and songwriting. He works out of his own custom-built studio in Leiden, the Netherlands, is married and has three children.
